Sew Spoiled August Giveaway!

Well, with no electricity this weekend, it could have been a wash but instead of sleeping it away or being on the computer far to long. I actually got stuff done! I wrote down Sew Spoiled goals in my notetaker with pencil and paper, cut out projects that I thought I would never start and spent the day getting organized. I also read stories with my daughters, played cards and board games and sat back and enjoyed long conversations with them.
If we have any bloggers from the east coast what was your experience with Hurricane Irene?
Thanks for being patience with me, blog-wise. It is the beginning of a new school year and for those of you who may not know, I am a full-time elementary teacher. My oldest daughter and I have been going to school together for four years! Wow! It goes by to fast.
I plan to write most post on Tuesday and Thursdays, with giveaways still at the end of each month. I have not forgotten August’s Giveaway! It will start today and run through August 31, 2011, 8pm eastern standard time. The winner will be announced September 1, 2011.
It is for a Sew Spoiled Bundle Pattern Package of 4!! That means the winner will choose 4 Sew Spoiled Patterns from my Etsy Shop. Simply post a comment on this blog post to enter to win. Please one post per blogger.
The winner will pick 4 patterns from any of these…
The links are pictures of each pattern.

Well... I wasn't in the hurricane, but I am in the dry state of Texas. We were hoping it would come our way just to lift this drought. I hope everything is well around you. I have one friend in VT who told me before it hit that people around her really weren't worried. They felt the news reporters were blowing it up to be bigger then it really was. Now look at VT. She did say her house is up on a hill so flooding won't be an issue for them other then all the roads around them being washed out. I'm really curious how they are doing.

hope your school year is a good one. I know you will be really busy and hope you still have some blogging time. I had no experience with Irene, but my family are from NC and Va. Fortunately, their damage is minimal and everyone is safe. Your give away is super. Good luck to who ever is lucky enough to get it! Thank you.

How to Line an A-Line Skirt Tutorial

After you find an A-line skirt pattern , I am using  One Yard Wonders 101  template . Make a muslin of your skirt! It only takes a few minutes to make a muslin version. Just baste stitch the side seams and make adjustments for your hips. Once your template is right you can make all the skirts your heart desires, so it is important to get the perfect fit first. Now we are ready to cut the "good" fabric and sew! ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- Flip the skirt right side out and put it on!! You are done!! It is super easy and your new skirt will look store made.  Plus there is no hand stitching the lining to the main fabric. Sweet Coin Purse Tutorial for Teacher Gifts

This time of year is so special to me because I get to show my gratitude for all of the hard work that goes into teaching my daughters. I love to make handmade gifts and this year is no exception. Since money does not grow on trees around here, I looked at my stash (I keep my scraps in hat boxes ) and tried to see what I had a lot of; small zippers, trims, Peltex strips ( from making iPad cases ), fabric scraps and some hardware for key fobs. So I set to work.  Materials: Plastic multipurpose 5" Zipper  Fabric Scraps Lightweight interfacing 808 Pellon Trims (We clipped  key fobs  with 1.5" swivel hooks onto our coin purses . There are tons of tutorials on making key fobs .) Step 1: Print out the Coin Purse Template  PDF.  Cut 2 main fabric, cut 2 lining and 2 interfacing using the template.  Optional: Cut a 2"X2" square of your choice main fabric or lining. This strip of fabric is used to clip a key fob to your coin purse later. We used a 1.5
